Spurs.com: Catching up with Splitter

Recently, I wrote about expecting a better second season from Tiago Splitter.

Splitter is working with his shooting, strength and conditioning as he prepares for the next season.

Now, here is an interview by Spurs.com with Splitter at an event for 2nd year Season Ticket Holders to check-in on his thoughts about the season, what he’s doing in the offseason and the NBA Playoffs.

Spurs.com – Is it nice to be able to participate in an event like this that thanks Season Ticket Holders?

Tiago Splitter – I think it’s always good to know your people, know the fans and give back to them what they give you all year. It’s good to be here.

Spurs.com – What have you been doing in the off-season so far?

Tiago Splitter – I’m working out a lot with shooting coach Chip Engelland and the strength and conditioning coaches to get ready for the next season.

Spurs.com – What are the plans for the rest of your summer?

Tiago Splitter – I have playing with the Brazilian national team in my schedule if they can find insurance that will cover NBA players.

Spurs.com – The season ended earlier than expected, but what positives can be taken away from a 61-win season?

Tiago Splitter – I think our team didn’t deserve to finish like that. We did a great job in the regular season, but we need to think about how we can improve for next year. Everybody knows what we need to do. Each player knows what he needs to do to improve and that’s what I’m trying to do.

Spurs.com – Do you have a favorite moment from this past season?

Tiago Splitter – I had a couple of games that I liked. The game against Denver and the game against Utah. I was able to do a good job on the court and help the team win.

Spurs.com – What have you been focusing on during your off-season workouts?

Tiago Splitter – My shooting. I’ve been working a lot on new mechanics and trying to find my best shot.

Spurs.com – Are you watching any of the playoffs now? What are your thoughts on the final four teams?

Tiago Splitter -Yes, but I feel bad because I feel like we could be there playing against any of those teams. We beat those teams during the regular season so it feels bad not to be there, but it’s always good to see how they other teams are playing in the playoffs. We can learn a lot from the games still being played.

  1. Seems like Tiago Splitter has a huge chip on his shoulders. That’s good news for the Spurs. GET READY Tiago!
