According to LA Capital website, San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, will be in the city of Mar del Plata next month to see the pre-Olympic basketball qualifiers for the Olympic Games in 2012.
The announcement was made by Matthias Sejem, executive director of the Organizing Committee of the tournament.
The Mar del Plata Olympic Qualifiers will take place from August 30 to September 12.
Team Argentina is working on Manu Ginobili, Luis Scola, Andres Nocioni and Carlos Delfino’s insurance that will enable them to join the national team.
The team will participate in Group B along with Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Paraguay and Panama.
Maybe Pop just want to make sure Manu doesn’t push it too hard. But with the lockout he can’t talk to him that sucks.
This is a good way to look at some international prospects for all we know, Popovich might be scouting for a quality big man overseas.
Knowing coach Pop, I wouldn’t be surprised if this trip is business as usual.
