Memphis Grizzlies Greivis Vasquez who plays for Venezuela at the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship says that he considers San Antonio Spurs guards and Argentina’s leader Manu Ginobili an example on and off the court.
In an interview with La Nueva.com, Vasquez said that he would like to play like Manu, and that he has some similarities with the Argentine assassin when Manu was his age.
Vazquez also mentioned that Ginobili is arguably the best player in the FIBA Americas tournament and is one of the players he follows closely and looks up to.
Why? The young Venezuelan admires Ginobili’s humility, unblemished image and work ethic and believes that Manu is probably the best Argentine basketball player of all time.
“Not all NBA players are like that, coming out of his way to greet another. Perhaps they do it with fellow veterans, but not with a rookie. I do not know, but it is still admirable, Ginobili is the best of all time in Argentina and I think not only for his work ethic and humility, he also has an unblemished image.”
“Because of his success, he opened the doors of the NBA to many Latinos.”
Vazquez said of Ginobili.
