Spurs Kawhi Leonard to play in exhibitions

According to ESPN, San Antonio Spurs rookie Kawhi Leonard will mix it up again with ex-BYU star Jimmer Fredette after agreeing to serve as captain of the opposing team in two exhibition games during the NBA lockout.

Spurs' rookie Kawhi Leonard soars for a dunk.

The games are set for Sept. 21 at the Maverick Center in Salt Lake City and Sept. 22 at Provo’s Marriott Center.

Leonard, the former San Diego State standout, was the 15th overall pick in July’s NBA draft by the Spurs.

Fredette was college basketball’s player of the year last season and 10th overall pick by the NBA’s Sacramento Kings.

Leonard led San Diego State to back-to-back Mountain West Conference championships and consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.

He will be reunited with coach Steve Fisher in the exhibition games.

Kemba Walker and Nolan Smith also have agreed to participate.

  1. The NBA should realize that making the lockout longer will hurt the league. Let young players like Kawhi Leonard showcase their talent in the pros.

  2. Very well said guys, I’m also very excited to see Leonard in action, the lockout should end up soon, so we can see the NBA stars play again and see the rookies on the hardwood.

You’re acting under the assumption that the league hierarchy and owners are intelligent ? That’s the furthest thing from the truth at this juncture !

It’s plain and simple …..it’s “greed “ that has led the two sides to where they’re now at , plain and simple !

    tophatal ……………..
