Spurs’ Blair dominating in Russia; led Krasnye Krylya Samara to third victory

After a strong debut scoring 23 points and grabbing 11 boards for his Russian team Krasnye Krylya Samara in a 98-78 win over Siauliai in Lithuania, San Antonio Spurs forward/center DeJuan Blair have led his team to stay undefeated at the VTB United League Basketball.

San Antonio Spurs' DeJuan Blair seem to fit right in with his Russian team, and is playing great basketball overseas as the lockout drags on.

Blair followed up his impressive debut effort, with 21 points and seven rebounds in a 98-83 win over Dnipro in the qualifying round and then helped Krasnye Krylya advanced to the VTB regular season by defeating Anwil in the final stage.

Led by Blair, Krasnye Krylya took a 29-26 lead after the first quarter and stretch their lead over Anwil to 55-46 at halftime.

Blair and the Russian squad put the game away in the third quarter, and headed in the fourth quarter with an 81-63 advantage, and eventually won the game in easy fashion 99-79.

The Spurs’ forward who opted to play in Russia during the NBA lockout had another double-double performance with 23 points and 12 rebounds in the victory.

Blair is averaging an impressive, 22.3 points and 10.0 rebounds after three games with his Russian team.

Krasnye Krylya will face another undefeated team Enisey on their next game with both teams already clinching the first two spots.

  1. A strong performance by “PAPA BEAR” showing signs of maturity. I hope he knows by now it’s not just a job or sport but a livelyhood where he is committed to win Chip’s. Let the season start.

  2. Blair force lives on! The big guy is doing great, hopefully this will help to be a better player when he comes back to San Antonio.
