Parker to sign with ASVEL? Ginobili’s agent denies rumors out of Bologna

As reported by Catch-and-Shoot (via , San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker signed a deal with ASVEL Villeurbanne where he will be playing during the NBA lockout.

The French superstar called a press conference for Thursday where he will officially announce his signing.

Parker will make his debut against Paris-Levallois in the French Pro A 2nd round and will miss the first game against Roanne.

Meanwhile, Herb Rudoy, Manu Ginobili’s Chicago-based agent, said rumors out of Bologna, Italy, that the Spurs star is set to join the Italian team if Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant declines Bologna’s offer are untrue. Rudoy’s text message was emphatic. ‘Not true!’

  1. I like Parker as a player obviously, but right now, I hope he stays in the states and get in shape for a little more time rather than rushing to play for his French team ASVEL.

    • I agree Tony should rest because playing in ASVEL will cost him money. Workingout with Duncan and with the other guys should be a good alternative while the wait for NBA season continues.

  2. I think Parker is excited to return to France because of the national team’s success at the 2011 Eurobasket.

Parker is not playing for money here, he’s playing fro pride and honor for his home country.

  3. Some rumors are true and some are not, Tony’s was true so why not Ginobili’s. It’s just a matter of time before he announces Bologna for some $baloney. Just hoping he takes care of himself if he does go. I hope our guys start comming back soon and start practicing with all the new rookies and start showing them the Spurs team system.
